[edit] What is a Wiki?

Wikis are collaborative web spaces that allow users to edit the content. Their changes will generally be displayed immediately. Some great examples of popular wikis include Wikipedia and its sister projects. Wikis on YourWiki can be either public or private. A public wiki is an open wiki community that can be edited by anyone (with an exception of those that are blocked from doing so). One example of a public wiki hosted by YourWiki is Linux Wiki. Another type of wiki is the private wiki, which is a wiki that can only be edited and viewed by certain users. This can be useful for businesses that need to keep confidential information private, as well as individuals that just need a private collaboration space.

[edit] How can I get a Wiki?

First, you'll need to Login or Create an Account so we can keep track of who owns the wiki. After you have done that, you may request a wiki on Meta Wiki, our collaboration site about YourWiki. If you cannot create an account for whatever reason, just send us an e-mail and we'll work with you; Just send us a preferred username.

If a big wiki is impractical for a small subject you want to write on, then you can create a Mini Wiki. Mini Wikis can be created by anyone. Although they aren't full wikis, they're still perfect to use for small public projects.

[edit] Premium Wikis

If you don't like the advertisements of your wiki, consider upgrading to a premium wiki. Premium Wikis have the advantage of being the first to get new features, as well as getting exclusive features that are only available on Premium Wikis. There is a nominal monthly fee for this type of wiki.

Premium Wikis will be available for purchase soon. Stay tuned!

[edit] Contributing

Coming to Yourwiki doesn't always have to mean creating your own wiki, because you also have the ability to contribute to and explore other wikis that we already host. There are plenty of topics to choose from, and we have a fairly up to date list of them on our Wiki Directory.
